Sedulitas, as approved by OHTA, offers the intermediate Occupational Hygiene Training module 505 over a period of 5 days.
The 5-Day 505 Training Course will cover the following:
- Understanding how exposure to hazardous substances arises in the workplace and the methodologies available to control these exposures
- Selection and optimization of control strategies for airborne contaminants using the hierarchy of control principles
- Practical application of engineering controls including ventilation systems and process modifications to reduce occupational exposures
- Design, assessment and optimization of Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) systems, including measurements to verify effectiveness and compliance with design specifications
- Effective implementation and management of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) programmes in the workplace
- Taking a holistic approach to control solutions that considers the impact on other workplace hazards and overall worker safety
- Understanding what constitutes “adequate control” of personal exposures and achieving legal compliance
What is Control of Hazardous Substances?
Control of hazardous substances involves the systematic application of control strategies to eliminate or minimize worker exposure to chemical, biological and physical hazards in the workplace. This encompasses the hierarchy of control – from elimination and substitution through engineering controls, administrative measures, and ultimately personal protective equipment.
Who should attend?
This intermediate-level course is ideal for occupational hygienists, health and safety practitioners, environmental managers, engineers, and technical personnel responsible for implementing control measures in the workplace. Participants should have completed 503 or have equivalent foundational knowledge in occupational hygiene.
